Our laser in comparison to IPL

A laser works more efficiently than an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device. This is because with IPL devices, the energy is distributed over a spectrum of wavelengths and is not concentrated on the desired spots as with diode lasers. In addition, the IPL method has a lower penetration depth, which results in more treatments compared to the zodiac laser method.

Hair growth cycle

The hair first goes through a growth phase and then a resting phase. This is called the hair growth cycle which proceeds as follows.

1. Anagen phase

Anagen phase or growth phase: Deep in the dermis the matrix is very active and forms new hair (synthesis of keratin and melanin)

2. Catagen phase

The catagen phase is a transitional phase. The cell production stops. The hair root detaches from the papilla and remains connected via an epithelial strand which is formed by the outer epithelial hair root sheath. This phase takes 2-3 weeks.

3. Telogen phase

Telogen phase or resting phase: In this phase no hair is being produced. The duration of this phase varies and has many contributing factors (area, intrinsic and extrinsic factors)

A 100% hair removal cannot be obtained (average hair reducation after 6 months: 70%). This is something the clients need to be informed of.
